With life for many slowly inching back to some semblance of ‘normal,’ Summer 2021 could be the year of the camper. Camping is an outdoor activity enjoyed by families and individuals who want to get in touch with Mother Nature. Don’t wait, though, to make your plans to go camping this year because if you do, you might find that the campsites are all booked. Here are some great choices for U.S. camping sites to book ASAP.

(1) Sheridan Lake Campground

Located in the middle of the Black Hills National Forest, the Sheridan Lake campground in South Dakota is within a reasonable distance to popular attractions like the Custer State Park, Crazy Horse Monument, and, of course, Mt. Rushmore. This U.S. camping site tends to be a little less crowded than others, so it is a perfect way to get out amongst people again. But not too many people.

Cost: Campsites start at under $30.

(2) Lake Catherine State Park

For campers who are more into water sports like swimming and boating, the Lake Catherine State Park in Arkansas is a beautiful option. This popular U.S. campsite accommodates a variety of camping styles with everything from cabins to simple tent sites. No worries if you don’t have camping gear because you can rent what you need from the park.

Cost: Campsites start at under $20.

(3) Lake Powhatan

Located in the Smokey Mountains region of North Carolina is the Lake Powhatan Campground. Campers here don’t have to ask themselves ‘beach or mountains?’ because Lake Powhatan offers both. Visitors can choose from traditional campsites or the more upscale glamping tents. A visit to the world-famous Biltmore Estate, only minutes away, is a great way to round out a stay at Lake Powhatan. CAMPER TIP: Beware of the black bears.

Cost: Campsites start at under $30.

(4) Snow Canyon State Park

If campers prefer to take it slow with interacting with a crowd of people as the COVID-19 vaccines keep rolling out, Snow Canyon Park in Utah is a great option. Set in the Zion National Forest, Snow Canyon is a good 50 miles from the nearest grocery store. You’ll have that ‘out there’ feeling when camping at Snow Canyon State Park.

Cost: Campsites start at around $30.
